 I love color, especially when it comes to my clothes. My closet is full of [most] colors in all different shades and I even have a few multicolored items. However, I usually shy away from very colorful outfits. If I'm going to wear, for instance, a lime green tank top, I'll probably pair it with some denim or khaki shorts so it can stand out more. But I'm starting to play around with color more and loving the results. I usually wear this miniskirt with a light pink tank, and while that looks okay, this new combo is more "Wow"! The coral cardi and bright pink tank play off each other nicely and show off the less noticeable colors in the skirt. I decided to pair the outfit with an understated necklace and tons of bracelets (also in shades of coral and pink). My new ring also works well with this ensemble. I'm starting to really like standing out and making a bold, colorful statement!

If you took a quick tour through my closet, you'd probably see a lot of pink, bright and pastel colors, florals and quite a few pairs of sandals. What you might not see is a few boho/Navajo pieces that I've come to really love. Like some poncho-like thick knit short-sleeved sweaters or a bright red blouse with "native-looking" aqua and white trim. Or this cropped top I bought this spring from American Eagle. I instantly fell in love with the pattern, the silhouette and the pop of the bright colors on top of the charcoal grey. I knew I had to buy it, and I've loved wearing it ever since. It's one of my favorite new additions to my closet that's helped to transform my wardrobe from mainly girly to girly with a hint of boho flair. I paired it with a simple orange cami that I got a few years ago and haven't worn much since. I'm glad I found a use for it. On bottom, I chose a destroyed denim mini I bought last summer. I love its edgy, worn look. I kept the jewelry simple: a few coral beaded bracelets mixed with metal charm bracelets and a beachy shell necklace. Usually, I like to wear my hair wavy with this top but I decided to rock the straightened second-day hair look with a messy side ponytail. It still worked to pull the whole outfit together.

Western Chic

Growing up in Colorado, I've learned a little about "Western" culture. However, I am more of a city girl than a cowgirl! I've always leaned towards girlier styles, but every once in a while, I like to return to my roots and dress a little rugged...with a touch of chicness.

I was able to mix my favorite style (girly) with a more traditional one (Western) in a way that was pulled together and a little bit edgy!

Cute Pick of the Month: July

Sorry for those fans of "Cute Pick" who missed out on their monthly dosage of "cuteness" last month. Instead of letting myself get too busy, I decided to get a head-start on this month's "Cute Pick" by starting early. So here it is!

This is a great outfit just in time for the Fourth of July. It's also good for summertime picnics or shopping sprees.

I'm wearing the Santa Margarita dress from Hollister, in red plaid ($29.89). I kept the focus on the dress and kept the rest of the outfit simple, with a bunch of random bracelets from American Eagle and Aeropostale, and some silvery wedge heels I got for Easter.

For an outfit that just screams "Summer!", why not try a bright patterned dress paired with simple heels and accessories.

Amazing Jeans For Less Than $50?!

For many people, jean shopping can be a nightmare. It's bad enough that there isn't a universal sizing system; the prices can also be ridiculous. Many nicer, non-designer jeans can go for as much as $100! It's pretty simple to find jeans that are a lot cheaper...but a lot less well-made.
I usually get my jeans at Aero, where the prices are under $50. However, I am getting a little tired of their denim, because they don't always fit as well as they should.
Then there is American Eagle. A mid-range store as far as prices go, their jeans are usually 40 or 50 bucks, which doesn't sound too bad, but it's a lot for a teenage girl who makes about $7 a week. It would take me about 7 weeks of allowance just to buy one pair! But now, AE is having sort of a clearance on jeans. The best deals are on the boy fit crops ($29.95-$39.95), the dark vintage skinny jeans ($29.50), dark indigo straight jeans ($29.50), medium vintage slim boot ($29.50) and the vintage destroyed wash Artist jeans ($29.95).
Besides the great prices, American Eagle jeans are well-made and fit the way they should, so if you're ready to try some new denim, get into American Eagle soon!

70% Off Flip-Flops? Count Me In!

So yesterday I went to the mall for a quick little shopping spree. Okay, so I only bought two items but I still got a little thrill from it.
First, I checked out Aeropostale because my sister needed a new swimsuit. Because I am saving up my money for a few things, I wasn't planning on buying anything at Aero. I was browsing around the store, and finding all kinds of cute things that were unfortunately above my budget for the trip, when I happened upon a pair of flip-flops in the very back of the store.
One thing you should know about me is that I am very addicted to flip-flops; I probably own about a dozen pairs or so and I wear them nearly every day in the summer. This particular specimen had silver straps and silver decoration on the footbed. They were very cute, and there was one pair left in my size so I checked the price tag: $17.99. I was about to put them back, disheartened, when I noticed a little red sign above the flip-flops that read "70% off ticketed price". I quickly did some math in my head, and realized that they would only cost about $6!
I waited for my sister to pick out the right swimsuit and then headed for the cash register, cheap but cute flip-flops in hand. In the end, they ended up only costing $5.80, including tax. I definitely scored a good deal and still had enough money to buy an adorable tank top from American Eagle!

Sales, Sales and More Sales!

'Tis the season for clearance sales! Because we are fast approaching summer here in the northern hemisphere, stores are quickly reducing their prices in order to fill their shelves with the newest merchandise. And that can only mean one thing for us shoppers...sales!
Currently, all Hollister spring/early summer apparel is on clearance in stores and on the website (visit their website to find the store nearest you). Also, all American Eagle womens shorts are on sale, and are a pretty sweet deal at $35 and under per pair. Of course, Aeropostale, the queen of all sales, is having what they call a "yard sale", with all girls graphic tees 2 for $22, shorts are buy one get one and swim is $10 per piece. With these amazing steals, I'm sure you'll be stepping out in style this summer!
