OOTD: Blue Crush

Light blue cropped Dolman sweater (Forever 21, NEW); navy cami (HCo., summer 2008); dark wash jeggings (AE, winter 2011)

Nautical charm bracelet (AE, NEW)

Silver sparkly fireball necklace (AE, winter 2009)

Lately, I've been obsessed with the color blue. Like many people, I have a lot of it in my closet since it goes with tons of things, but it's never been my favorite color (obviously, that goes to pink!). But recently, I've been moving away from basic navy into different shades, like cobalt and sky blue. This cropped sweater is one of my new buys from my latest haul, where I happened to buy a lot of other blue items.

I love this sweater because it's flowy and fun, and pairs really well with simple jewelry and jeggings. The key to making a loose piece work on a petite frame is pairing it with tighter-fitting bottoms, like skinnies or jeggings. I think this sweater will become a go-to this spring, paired with a denim mini or shorts, too.

What's your favorite shade of blue?

OOTD: [School] Spirited

Green sweatshirt (A&F, Christmas 2011); dark brown woven leather belt (A&F, summer 2011); camel cord miniskirt (AE, fall 2008); fish pendant necklace (AE, NEW)
Closeup of fish necklace

Gold woven leather sandals (AE, summer 2010)
Gold "XO" ring (AE, winter 2012)

I didn't even plan it this way, but I ended up wearing a totally school spirit-y outfit today! Green and gold are my college's colors (Go Rams!) and I honestly don't have much gold or green in my closet, but I thought this slouchy hoodless sweatshirt and corduroy skirt looked cute together, and were perfect for the 70 degree day we had. I paired the outfit with my new fish pendant (I really love quirky jewelry like this), a bronze-y ring and my gold leather sandals. I was definitely representin' CSU today!

Do you ever wear your school's (former or current) colors on a whim?

Spring Shopping Spree

My mini haul!

Spring break came and went...too fast. I enjoyed it while it lasted though--getting to cook for my family, spending time outside in the gorgeous weather and of course, shopping. No break from school would be complete without a shopping trip!

My mom, sister and I went to our usual mall in Denver. I always get more excited about shopping in spring and summer, since the clothes for these seasons are so cute! I really didn't have much of a game plan going in to the trip, so I was just going to wing it and see what stuff I could find.

At Hollister, I saw the Point Loma windbreaker that I love, but I didn't want to spend almost $60 on a lightweight jacket so I passed. Hopefully it'll go on clearance soon! I did end up investing in my first pair of yoga shorts (Hollister Yoga Short Short in blue, $15), as well as a navy striped backpack (Classic SoCal Bag, $34.65) and a ruffled cap sleeve tee (Seagrove in blue, $21.90). Usually I don't get many blue things, but this time I was apparently obsessed with the color!

I bought a couple of mini lotions and a lip gloss at Bath and Body Works, and then at American Eagle, I bought the Swimming Fish Necklace ($11.99) and a nautical charm bracelet ($15.50). I love their buy one get one 50% off deal on jewelry!

Abercrombie & Fitch, as usual, was pretty pricy. However, I did end up buying one of the first things I saw walking in the door--the Skye twill shorts in pink ($54). I've been dying to jump in on the colored pants/colored shorts trend and I finally did. The pink is definitely a vibrant shade, so it's not for someone who is shy about wearing color, but I'm excited to show them off with a dark grey shirt.

Finally, we hit up the new Forever 21 store. It was wayyyyy bigger than its previous location so it had tons of options. I honestly didn't plan on buying anything there...but when I saw this cute blue cropped sweater (Heritage 1981 Destroyed Crop Sweater, $22.80) I knew I had to get it. I really love cropped tops and the color of this one just screamed spring to me.

I guess I am glad spring break's over...because I can show off all my new purchases all over campus ;)

Weekly Outfit Highlight: March 12-16

Top: navy striped cropped tee (HCo., NEW); silver bangles (AE, summer 2010); navy twill shorts (HCo., summer 2011); dark brown woven leather belt (A&F, spring 2011)

Middle: light pink cardigan (A&F, Christmas 2010); pink plaid scarf (AE, summer 2010); pink ruffled tank (A&F Kids, summer 2010); burgundy twill shorts (A&F, summer 2010)

Bottom: coral cardigan (HCo., spring 2009); bright coral belted tank (HCo., NEW); multi plaid skirt (HCo., summer 2010); owl pendant necklace (AE, fall 2011); coral beaded bracelets (Aero, old)

I haven't done a OOTW post in quite awhile, so I was definitely due! This was the first week in several months that I was able to wear shorts, skirts and dresses without being cold. The weather has been so nice--almost summer-like--and I've been loving all the new spring arrivals in my favorite stores. The striped tee and the coral tank are both brand new online purchases and will look great even in to summer. I love that they're both cute and breezy...perfect for spring days!

In Like a Lamb

Green floral dress (HCo., spring 2011); pink crystal necklace (AE, summer 2010); pink cardigan [in hands] (A&F, winter 2010)

"Give Me The 1st Dance" nail polish (Nicole by OPI, silver);  "Fuchsia Shock" crackle overcoat (Sally Hansen, hot pink)

Mixed bracelets (AE)
Light pink cardigan (A&F, Christmas 2010); pink ruffle tank (A&F Kids, winter 2011); light blue floral skirt (GH, summer 2010)

Jeweled snake ring (AE, Christmas 2011)

March has been sooooo nice so far! I wasn't expecting the "snowiest" month of the year (here in CO, at least) to be close to 70 degrees so early in the month, but I'm not complaining. It gave me the chance to wear plenty of spring-y florals, sandals, one of my dresses and also a miniskirt. Spring is one of my favorite seasons for fashion (as long as the weather cooperates). I love pastels, bright colors, beautiful floral patterns and girly dresses and skirts. Feeling a warm breeze on my bare legs is so nice, and reminds me that summer is just around the corner!

Swimming into Spring Break

Swimming into Spring Break
I don't know about you, but spring break is all about breaking out the bikinis! While I may not be headed to some tropical locale this year, I am planning on doing a little sunbathing during my week off--let's hope the weather cooperates!

The three swimsuit styles above, all from Hollister, are some of my favorites this year. I love the simple nautical look of a striped top and solid bottom--perfect for boating trips. The pink polka dot bikini is cute and will look great poolside while sipping on a cocktail (virgin or otherwise). And the ruffly coral bandeau top paired with the seagull-embroidered bottom is great for a day at the water park.

No matter how you're planning on spending your spring break this year, make sure to stock up on some new bikinis...and rock 'em if you can!
